TIMBERSPORTS® WORLD TROPHY- GREEN EVENT
For several years, we have been involved in the production of the international STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® competitions. We have been overseeing the entire production and project management for 9 years, and for the past 4 years, we have also taken on the responsibility for the "Risk, Health, and Safety Management" department.
I appreciate the relaxed work atmosphere at KEEN, which always remains professional nonetheless. Additionally, we have been using the KEENTIX tool for several years. The wonderful aspect is that it evolves with us and consistently meets our needs.
Raimondo Napoleone (STIHL Timbersports® Project Lead)
Thank you to you and your incredible team for all your efforts and help before and during the event. You made everything run smooth and our job easier! Especially the great flexibility you showed with quickly finding and implementing solutions to our last minute requests – thank you! You and your team’s positive attitude was amazing to see and to be part of. Hope you are able to get some nice time off and we will see you at the next TIMBERSPORTS® event!

On the Path to Sustainability STIHL Timbersports®
STIHL Timbersports®
Around 2 years ago marked the inception of our latest collaborative venture, triggered by the decision of the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® team to foster the global events of this sport with an ecologically and socially sustainable approach.
STIHL's goal is to increase participation and attention for the sport while also protecting our environment. This is where our role comes into play: Over the course of several months, we engaged in a comprehensive assessment of the TIMBERSPORTS® events. ogether with the University of Aalen, we aimed to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and risks that, after thorough analysis, should guide us toward a medium-term strategy to make this sport TRULY more sustainable. It's not just about offsetting CO2; no, the TIMBERSPORTS® organizing team aims for REAL improvements to make the sport future-proof!

World Trophy'22 at 'Wiener Rathausplatz'
In 2022, we introduced our first sustainable initiative in Vienna. The iconic Vienna 'Rathausplatz' hosted the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® WORLD TROPHY and several international competitions for a weekend.
With a turnout of over 20,000 visitors spanning 3 days, this event marked the largest TIMBERSPORTS® gathering to date. Simultaneously, we curated a sustainable food truck festival right beside the main event, collaborating with local partners to offer a tempting variety of regional treats.
As it was a public event, keeping track of the crowd was essential. For this purpose, we employed our in-house tools: COUNTING CROWDS and KEENTIX.With COUNTING CROWDS, we measure visitor flows in real-time and prevent overcrowding by closing entrances or redirecting visitors. KEENTIX is our self-developed accreditation solution that enables local and temporal access regulations. Recognizing the involvement of heavy and dangerous equipment in TIMBERSPORTS®, we enforced smart zone regulations to permit entry into these areas exclusively for trained and authorized personnel.
and this is how it's done::
Green Event- Measures
Yet, in partnership with STIHL®, our commitment extended to the event's sustainability as well. The World Trophy was established as a Green Event, ensuring adherence to all sustainability guidelines set by the city of Vienna.
...Both athletes and crew relied exclusively on public transportation within Vienna.
...No paper flyers or posters were produced; instead, all promotional materials were digitized and made accessible through QR codes.
...100% of the wood used was redirected to municipal composting.
...Our waste management approach resulted in a 30% reduction in waste compared to previous events, with separation of all waste streams.
...Instead of disposable plastic cups, STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® supplied over 200 aluminum reusable bottles for the crew's use, a practice that will extend to future events as well.
...Every piece of cutlery used was crafted from renewable resources.
...And this is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of our sustainable efforts.

More Timbersports® Experiences
A few months after the World Trophy, in October, we organized the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS in Gothenburg, Sweden, where we were able to successfully implement many insights from the previous event. We just returned from the World Trophy 2023 in Rotterdam, and the 2023 World Championships in Stuttgart are already on the horizon. We are excited to be part of this unique sport and highly value STIHL® as our project partner!
